CATHARSIS

CATHARSIS

The Catharsis collection started with research on how different people experience and visualise emotions and feelings. The idea of using leather interlocking was born through reflecting on how people interact with themselves and others. Our strongest emotions are experienced with other people and bind us together, which is why the interlocking details are at the heart of the collection.

The main inspiration for the collection is naturally extracted from ANA NOVSKI brand concept and obtains its visual influence from people who are searching for and finding a way to deal with their emotions, by getting comfortable with their true identity. Prejudice, pain and a wish to be oneself act as a metaphor for design details, such as layers, folds, stitching and embellishment.

In November 2017, I was invited to present the collection at the 4th Chengdu Creativity & Design industry expo. For more details about the exhibition, click here.

To be emotionally healthy and to reduce emotional pain, we must accept reality, even when reality is highly harsh, unpleasant, tragic and unfortunate.

Range Plan

The material choice is inspired by the texture of human skin, its natural radiance is translated into metallic leathers, and the 3D embellishment symbolises its imperfections. The torment of emotional pain is translated into innovative shapes symbolising human desires and fears. The objects are linked together not only by the same concept, but also physically - all the pieces within the collection can be connected, disconnected and readjusted.
